After coaching the UC-Berkeley Pie Queens to numerous appearances at the UPA College Championships and providing coaching assistance to Homebrood on the women's club circuit, Matty brought a wealth of experience and understanding to the table when he signed on to Fury in 2006. Under his guidance, Fury has been able to fine tune its horizontal stack and enhance the team's offensive efficiency--critical elements to Fury's success and back to back championships. In addition to providing the lone Y chromosome on Fury, Matty has offered patience, good humor, a calming presence, and his gourmet cooking skills to the team.

While not planning or running practices, traveling to tournaments, calling substitutions, meeting with players, or having endless strategy conference calls, Matty is a middle school teacher who is also highly involved in the East Bay Youth Ultimate League. He and his wife, Arlie Stern (#44), live in Oakland with their two cats and three hens.
