Bio

Somebody said that we are what we repeatedly do. That excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. Gwen loves ultimate, she's been in love with it for a long time, and she is really good at it. She joined Stanford University Superfly in 1999 and contributed heavily to many of their successes and College National titles as a player, captain and coach in 2005 and 2006. She was also part of Team USA in the 2005 World Games. Gwen has now been playing 8 consecutive years with Fury since 2001, winning National Championship in 2003, 2006 and 2007. Her loyalty and commitment to the team is so strong that she kept playing Fury and attending all tournaments and most practices despite moving to Seattle last year.

Gwen is one of the valuable minds behind Fury's major achievements being a team strategist since 2007. Together with Alex Snyder, this year Gwen is Fury's [and team USA's!] captain, and they will lead the team to Worlds and to the pursuit of winning its third consecutive National Championship.

On the fields Gwen is #5 and is one the team's most versatile players. On offence she hucks with precision, breaks the mark, skies players, and lays out for outstanding catches. Also a solid defender, Gwen matches up against the stronger opponents and still gets block after block (watch her in the 2007 UPA finals!). She anchors Fury's zone defense and dominates the air as a deep deep. Gwen is a fearless player: in decisive moments, when the pressure is on, she not only performs at her best, but her ease and confidence inspires the whole team.

She's is also one the most influential people in the promotion of women's ultimate and is currently coaching Seattle's women's club team Viva!. Off the field, Gwen is contagiously positive, sweet, and lots of fun!

Over the years, Fury has been comprised of a diverse group of women, but everyone has shared a common goal: to excel at the sport we love, together.
